Tsubasa / xxxHolic Project Updates
Been a while huh? News has been pretty slow but there've been several big Tsubasa announcements in the past few weeks well worth mentioning.
The OAV (or OAD as people are saying now with the move from VHS to DVDs) sequel to Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations and xxxHolic Kei currently just going by the name, "Tsubasa / xxxHolic Project" has been postponed from January 2009 to February due to the delay in the manga.
An official site has been launched but no other major news so far.
The second season of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles has premiered in English and Japanese on Region 1 DVD with the release of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle Season 2 Starter Set. The second DVD is due for release later this month on the 30th of September and is now up for preorder.
Manga-wise we've got a bit of a wait with the next volume, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle #19 not coming out until the 19th of November.
Tsubasa #20 is being released a bit faster though with a 27th of January 2009 release date set.
Was wondering about the US, Region 1 English/Japanese DVD release of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle Season 2 so did a search and found that it's on it's way with the first volume due for release on the 19th of August! 1 and a half months away!
The numbering will continue from the first season, so the first second season DVD will be "#7" which makes sense. It will also come with a hard collectors box to hold the season in, and I have to say the box looks nice! While I loved the CLAMP artwork on the Japanese Region 2 release, this one just looks better overall.
What do you think?

First of all, the release of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle #18 has been moved forward from the 12th of August to the 22nd of July! Almost a whole month early!
Also, according to several sources, there's going to be a BIG announcement regarding Tsubasa attached to the next volume of the Japanese manga due for release in a week or so. Everyone seems to think it has something to do with Mokona's "anime script" she had been working on. My bet is on another Tsubasa OAV possibly crossing over with xxxHolic!
July 17th can't come fast enough!!!

As previously mentioned, the two movies that were screened together in Japan though released separately will be released together in a 2 disk double pack for the American/Canadian Region 1 release.
Amazon.com is taking preorders here, currently offering a US$8.99 (30%) discount! Pretty good!
Those who can't wait for Tsubasa #16 should be aware that the street release date has moved back a few days from the end of this month to the 5th of February. Only a few days.

I'm surprised it took me this long, but I finally updated the Tsubasa CD Shopping Guide to include the opening and closing singles for Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations! Those wanting to purchase these great cds can now do so via this page.
Speaking of Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations, the official site has updated with two new cool site skins and loads more character sketches! How good is the artwork on this OAV! Can't wait 24 hours for the 2nd DVD!
Haven't placed your order yet? Yes Asia is still taking orders! The first one sold out in quite a few places. Better safe than sorry!

Just got back to Japan a few days ago so a big HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of my visitors and readers!!!
This year has a LOT in store for Tsubasa fans with the Tsubasa and xxxHolic movie coming out on DVD next month as well as the Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations OAVs the second of which comes out in just a few days!
GREAT NEWS! Amazon.com has just added the Tsubasa movie DVD up for preorder! What's really cool is that the Tsubasa Movie is being packed with the xxxHolic movie (unlike the Japanese release which sold them both separately!).
Something else that's cool (though could change) is that the DVD is listed as being "All Regions" which means that it should play on any DVD player no matter which country you live in!
The two movie DVD is due for release on the 19th of February 2008.
In movie news, the Tsubasa and xxxHolic movies will be shown on the big screen at an anime festival in New York between the 7th and 9th of December. More info HERE.

YesAsia has updated and is now offering pre-orders for the next three Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle manga volumes which each come with a subsequent DVD volume of Tokyo Revelations!
Remember that Tsubasa #21 which comes with the first Tokyo Revelations DVD also comes with a DVD box to hold all three DVDs. Only first prints will be shipping with these boxes so pre-ordering is highly recommended. #21 is due for release in just a few days on the 16th of November!
Tsubasa #22 which comes with the second DVD is due out on the 17th of January and Tsubasa #23 which comes with the third and final DVD will come out on the 17th of March.

Remember the first printings of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle Tokyo Revelations DVD #1 come with a limited edition box with artwork by CLAMP to hole all three DVDs. As we've seen with the Region 1 (US) Tsubasa releases, they don't use the Japanese artwork for the English boxes so if you want the Tokyo Revelations box, now's your chance to grab it!
Someone has subtitled the trailer in English and uploaded it to YouTube. Feed & Email Readers click HERE
Amazon has just placed the fourth Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle DVD which is due for release on the 9th of October this year, up for pre-order HERE. Make sure to get place your order to get it on (or close to) the day of release!
THIS SITE has a great poster from the upcoming CLAMP in Wonderland 2 as well as some images taken from the film itself. Click on them for larger versions.
I know I've been neglecting my little baby so I've done some cleaning up here and there by adding a new section for the upcoming Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle: Tokyo Revelations which has all the basic info you need to know about the OAV.
I also added the some links to the Links page which has almost everything official covered now. I found it interesting that Funimation has created a separate site for the second season of the anime. Weird.
Updated the DVD Shopping Guide with links and images for the third Tsubasa DVD which crept up out of nowhere. If you haven't ordered yours yet (I just grabbed mine yesterday) ORDER NOW!
Volumes 13 and 14 of the manga have also been released recently. Expect my reviews soon.
Also, a big hello and thanks to everyone who has subscribed to the site feed! Over 230 subscribers is amazing! Cheers guys!

In immediate news, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle #16 has been given a release date of the 29th of January 2008 so if you like to get your preorders in early, knock yourself out!
In cool news, Chibiyuuto has been piecing together some clues in her blog concerning a possible Tsubasa and xxxHolic anime (maybe an direct to DVD OAV?) in the near future. Still no official word, but there sure have been some interesting official clues.
In site news, expect the review of the first DVD the day I get it and then the treakling in of several new subsections including a much needed world guide.

The cover for Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle #15 has been released so I've uploaded it to the Manga Page. It's one of my favourite covers in the series so far. The first to feature sakura flowers which is pretty unusual for CLAMP.
In 8 days the first Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle DVD will be released! Woo Hoo! Amazon is still offering a 25% discount for all orders placed before the release date. You can get the regular DVD HERE and the "Starter Kit" which comes with the box HERE.
I've already pre ordered mine! Can't wait!!!
AnimeonDVD.com has already scored themselves a copy and have done a rather general review of it HERE. Well worth a look as it says what all the special features are (a LOT!) and that there is a 5.1 English surround audio mix!!! Can't wait to try this out! The Japanese DVD only had 2.0 surround.
I was curious as to what the reviewer thought of the English speaking cast but he doesn't mention them at all.
I'll have my copy in a week or so and will be reviewing it myself asap. Look forward to it!

As with the manga and DVD sections, the CD page has also been revamped with CD covers and links to where to buy them from Amazon and YesAsia.
Something else that I've done is add a background colour to the text for those subscribed to our email newsletter or site feed. I'm curious as to what people think. Do you like the added burst of colour or do you prefer the old white background? Let me know and I'll change it depending on demand.
Have a nice weekend everyone!

Finally got around to placing my nice Amazon.com pre order which included the first Tsubasa DVD (at a 25% discount! WOO!) and xxxHolic #9 among other things and was disappointed to see that Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle #13 has been pushed back from a May release to the 12th of June! Not happy Jan!
Completely revamped the Manga Shopping Guide tonight (check it out!) so updated all of the release dates and uploaded several new manga covers that have just been released.
Speaking of covers, the cover for the second Tsubasa DVD has been released featuring Kurogane and Tomoyo. As will be the go from now on, I added it to the new DVD Shopping Guide.
It's been a busy night!

Amazon has begun taking preorders for volumes Two and Three of the American Region 1 Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle DVDs. Pretty cool that if you pre-order two together you can get a discount.
Volume Two is due for release on the 17th of July and Volume Three will be out on the 28th of August.
Volume One is still due for release on the 22nd of May and I'll have a review of it as soon as my order arrives! Just two months to go guys!

A better look at the DVD box artwork for the English, region 1 DVD release has been posted HERE. Looks like they're using artwork from the region 2 DVD covers instead of the artwork from the region 2 box.
This kind of makes me happy as I've bought both Japanese region 2 boxes here in Tokyo and have been waiting for the region 1 dvds to fill them up with... but while the region 2 boxes feature unique artwork by CLAMP, the region 1 box looks more dynamic and some effort seems to have gone into designing it to make it look good on your shelf. The Japanese boxes meanwhile are just boxes with the CLAMP artwork slapped on them. No borders or frames at all and the title is slapped on the top of the box.
The box will be released on the 22nd of May this year and can be pre ordered from Amazon HERE.
I guess it's also worth mentioning that YesAsia has a Tsubasa Season One DVD Box which has Malay, Chinese and English subtitles for a rather cheap price. Be warned though as most English subtitles on Chinese DVDs suck and I for one will be getting the US region 1 dvds if only to hear what the characters sound like in English (Here's hoping the English Sakura isn't as annoying as the Japanese one!)
CLAMP NOW has updated with heaps of CLAMP news and a first look at the artbook which is coming out soon. LOVE THE COVER! I'll be grabbing that baby on day of release for sure!
And finally, CLAMP in Wonderland 2 premiers tomorrow in Tokyo! Woo!!!

Something else that I just realised is that the anime series is being marketed as "Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle". Why is this strange? Well in Japan the anime dropped the "Reservoir" to become simply "Tsubasa Chronicle". Funny how the English version is going back to the full name used for the manga. I like it personally and always thought it was lazy on Bee Train's part to shorten the anime title.
I'll open this up for discussion so post your opinions in the comments below. What do you think? New box art good? Longer or shorter name for the series? How do you talk about the show? I normally just say "Tsubasa" actually.

The Official English Site has updated with the release date of the first English (which will probably have the Japanese audio as well with subtitles) DVD!
Many fans know that FUNimation has acquired Tsubasa, but no street dates have been announced. Well today is the day. Tsubasa v.1 DVD has been scheduled for release on May 22, 2007.
The Official CLAMP in 3D LAND SITE has updated with pics of the second series of CLAMP character models featuring, Syaoran (Tsubasa version) along with several characters from Angelic Layer, RG Veda, Chobits and one stud from Legal Drug called Rikuo!
The first series is still available for sale here from YesAsia. They're expected to sell out fast. The first series features, CCS Syaoran, Tsubasa Sakura, Kazahaya from Legal Drug, Yuko from xxxHolic and Chii from Chobits.
Personally, I always preorder my manga from Amazon as I can save about US$1.86 on each order, sometimes up to US$5. They also have a habit of sending them to you a few days (one time a whole week!) before it's official release date.
I also cleaned up the links on the right hand side, and added a section for the amazingly large number of affiliate sites that no longer exist! If you're an owner of one of the "Dead Affiliates" and you've simply changed address, please let me know so I can add you to the "Active" list again.
