Episode 12
Sorry for the long wait everyone! My social and business lives are taking me over. Maybe I should speak to Yuko about this. ;)
Loved this episode! I've been looking forward to this one for a long time as this was a world with no feather and most likely impossible to spread over several episodes like the two previous arcs. What we get here is a standalone episode that involves much more character evolution, the introduction of Mokona's secret techniques, a chance to reflect on where everyone is and the team's aim and overall a very accurate interpretation of the manga.
There was one minor difference and that was Sakura jumping into the lake and a talking fish but it really didn't change events in any way at all.
5 stars!!!
p.s. Anyone seen Miyuki in the last arc, contact me!

Episode 11
Best episode ever! This episode was really great. Besides the semi-erotic feather giving (bending over backwards and moaning???) I found absolutely nothing wrong with this episode and in fact found it to improve on it's manga counterpart!
The episode started off with a bang! We got several fight scenes, pretty much all the plot threads tied up and some plot advancement concerning the "big bad" of the series and some characterisation and character interaction between several characters that didn't happen in the manga, such as those three mysterious men. ;)
I'd say it's pretty obvious who or what is in that myserious tube the bad guys have, Hell, I figured it out in the first episode but the kept the identity of the thing/person hidden way into the manga. Still nice to see the villians though.
Best episode so far and hopefully a taste of things to come. Almost no filler dialogue in this episode and a really touching tree symbolism at the end.
5 stars!
Edit: Didn't see Miyuki at all in this world! Did anyone else?
Site Update and Movie Storyline!
Just added release dates for the Tsubasa CDs and DVD coming out this year. Unfortunately the first DVD is following the recent trend of having only two eps on it but still at about US$40! First prints will come with a boxset to house the whole series in but still.... that's expensive!!!
In other news the official movie site has updated the
Tsubasa section with the movie's story! It's in Japanese however. Whoever wants to translate it will get the credit! :D

Episode 10
Wow, was this episode great or what? The changes to the manga storyline in the previous episodes all come together and prove to be more interesting than the events taken from the manga (though those events are still pretty damn good!). It's still a shame that this arc is taking so many episodes to come complete but this ep really made the previous few worthwhile and as I've stated before will be best viewed as a marathon of kinds. I think that's how I'll watch this series in the future. One arc at a time.
Top notch animation and some great extensions of Faye's theme in the famous battle scene from the manga. Sakura is bearable in this episode (mainly because she wasn't doing a Wolverine, i.e. appearing in every scene). We got some more history on Faye and Mokona actually tried to rescue Shaoran which was both shocking and cute.
One thing I noticed when watching this ep was that Sakura shouldn't have been able to communicate as well as did being so far away from Mokona, however I guess she had a girl's dead monther's spirit inside her so any plothole could be explained away with that.
This show is getting better with every ep. Can't wait for the next arc.

Site Updates and Choice Awards News!
Due to my recording screwing up, I'll be downloading the ep off of
Saiyaman and should have the review by tomorrow or Monday morning due to social commitments. Sorry guys!
However to make up for it, I wrote a review of xxxHolic #5 for your reading pleasure! Great issue! If you're not reading this series... READ IT!
Now the TRC Peopls's Choice Awards. I've got several nominations, thanks guys but here's the thing.... NOT ENOUGH! There are hundreds of fans out there who are reading this. Just because you don't have a site, doesn't mean that you can't nominate! You're supposed to nominate sites, not make one. Come on everyone, you must visit your fave Tsubasa site daily and want it to be recognised! Give it the recognition and publicity it deserves!
NOMINATE NOW!Nomation deadlines have been extended until episode 12. Will have "Nominate Me!" buttons for webmasters to post on their sites shortly to really get this thing going. More info on the menu on the right. ;)

xxxHolic #5 Review
xxxHolic #5
Was US$10.95 NOW US$8.76!
Buy Now From Amazon.com!
Crossover Info: xxxHolic #5 crosses over with Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles #7 via Yuko sending a letter to the gang about their White Day present. There's also a crossover with CLAMP's other new work Legal Drug #2 with Yuko getting the vase that was discovered by Kazahaya and Rikuo.
Just got my issue of xxxHolic #5 in the mail and all I can say is "Wow!". Not only do we get more well written stand alone supernatural stories with subtle character developments, we are also treated to a HUGE leap forward in the xxxHolic story with the biggest suprise this series has revealded and I never would have guessed: There's a bad guy!
What started out as the usual strange ghost/monster/spirit storyline turned into something much larger (maybe global?) that is literally eating people's souls and what's more, we see Yuko take a stand and use her powers to fight what the villian is doing and add extra meaning to all those butterflies we see in all the previous xxxHolic pictures (go ahead, have a look! No we know what they are... kind of).
There's also a subtle piece of info regarding the black Mokona (he has two stomaches!)
Great art. Suprising story. Buy it now. Seriously. This series rocks!
I hate to say it, but it really is better than Tsubasa!
GOD DAMN IT!!!
Ah, well my trusty Japanese vcr/tv decided to change the month on me so my timer record didn't work. Looks like I'll be getting the episode off of bittorent like everyone else!

Episode 9
Something I've realised while watching the anime is that I get the same feeling watching it that I do within the last 5 minutes of an episode of 24. The "You've only got a few minutes left! Hurry up!" kind of feeling. However, I get this feeling about halfway through an episode of Tsubasa.
After about 15 minutes of just dialogue, the viewer starts to realise that there won't be enough time for them to get Sakura's feather, defeat the bad guys and travel to another world. Hell, when the second half of the episode is MORE talking even in the "action scenes" there's not enough time for them to even
meet the bad guys! It's strange because the still images in the manga of Kurogane and Fay's fight scene felt faster than the moving, animated version. :( The anime seems to being going for over-the-top dramatic poses and cliched plots (ala a certain girls dead mother coming back to talk to her daughter next week) rather than just telling the damn story.
I don't mind that it strays from the manga really. It's just that in this case, every time they stray seems to slow down the pace for little cliched character moments that seem to do nothing to advance the plot or character development.
The music was great however and the animation A+. Plus it was a
little faster paced than last weeks but still, again, not much happened besides them entering the castle and a trade sequence with Yuko (great to see her again and made me realise that they never gave Yuko an apple in the anime Hanshin arc!)
Still no sign of Miyuki.
Next ep looks to be good. I'd say it feels like the last ep of this arc but who knows? They may drag it out further.
p.s. Send those nominations in people for the
TRC People's Choice Awards!
